Marine Education Poster Contest

Each spring, DE-Project BEACH hosts the Annual Marine Education Poster Contest. This national competition draws hundreds of young artists from islands throughout the Bahamas to learn about a new marine topic and express their concerns through poster art.

For awards, Bahamian marine vendors donate thousands of dollars in prizes and activities for the top four winners of each grade category. In addition, the teacher for each first place prize winner also receives a prize: a two-night, three-day stay at the beautiful Treasure Cay Resort & Marina in Treasure Cay, Abaco.

To help kickoff the annual contest, the education staff of Dolphin Encounters travel to dozens of schools in the Bahamas to present a free Marine Assembly Program on that year’s topic.

From dolphins to sharks, coral reefs to mangrove, or even marine debris, the art projects that come from the annual event demonstrate that the children of this country love the ocean and are proud to be Ocean Stewards.

The details, background information and deadlines for the contest each year are posted in January and the winning art posted here by July.
