The Adventures Of Goombay
Want to know more about Bahamas animal life? Have you seen the movie Finding Nemo? If you have, you understand the magic of marine life. The mysteries of the Ocean attract people like honey attracts bees. If you haven’t seen the movie, you should! Why? Because characters like Nemo have made marine life into stars. They have taken the fear out of the sea and put in its place a fascination with the wildlife that live in it. Nemo also inspired the character development and scripts for the newest members of the Ocean Puppet Pals.
Meet Goombay, a dolphin who wants to get out in the world and see more than just the Bahamas. Sharing the name of one of our real dolphins, Goombay learns about new animals, their special characteristics, dolphins natural habitat and some of the challenges of survival they face in ocean habitats around the world. The Adventures of Goombay is just one of the plays that can be put on for students from Kindergarten through to Grade 2. We’ve even modified it to cater to our youngest fans… the pre-schoolers!

The Power of Puppets
Puppets have always been an important teaching tool at Dolphin Encounters. But on request of teachers, we took them one step further! We have built a special traveling puppet theater and acquired a tremendous collection of marine characters we now call the Ocean Puppet Pals. And why? Because according to teachers, puppets have a lot more power to them then you might think. Puppets allow adults to talk to young kids about tough issues like emotions and how to express emotions in a positive way. Puppets are creative and inspire kids to drop their apprehension and sing and dance, even with other kids around. Finally, puppets spark imagination, causing kids to come up with their own new stories. So there you have it: never underestimate the power of puppets!
