What Are the Different Types of Swim with Dolphin Programs?

If you want to plan a fun, educational vacation with your family, you may want to consider interactive dolphin swim programs as part of your adventure. Dolphins are amazing aquatic creatures that are friendly and pleasant to be around. Most people never get to experience the warmth of these special marine mammals, but making time to meet the dolphins face-to-face will create memories that will last a lifetime. There are a variety of programs to choose from, each providing a different experience.

The most popular of dolphin interactive programs is the full submersion in the water with the animals – usually referred to as a Swim program. The deeper water allows you to interact with the dolphins as they swim and exhibit their natural behaviors. You can learn about dolphin history and see the beauty and power of these creatures in person. The highlight of the swim program is the exciting finale behavior that may include a footpush where the dolphins glide you across the water by the soles of your feet in a ride you will never forget. Other swim program highlights include dancing, kissing and hugging these friendly animals. If you want to swim alongside a dolphin and enjoy their strength and speed up close, this is the program you should consider. Be sure to check the age requirements for this type of program ahead of booking.

Another interactive dolphin program, usually referred to as a dolphin encounter, takes place in shallow water that is waist deep. An encounter program also provides exciting face-to-fins contact with friendly dolphins that participants of any age or any degree of swimming skills can enjoy. The encounter is a great choice for families with small children or large groups who wish to meet dolphins together. Behaviors include kissing, dancing, petting and feeding dolphins in very close contact. The encounter with a dolphin is fun for the entire family and is an extremely popular choice for most families as it allows access to dolphins in a safe, shallow water environment. This type of program is also usually accessible for people who are mentally or physically challenged.

If you don’t want to actually touch the animals, you can always visit as an observer. All dolphin facilities welcome guests who wish to observe the dolphins or watch their family members participate in an interactive program. In every program the animals exhibit natural or trained behaviors that are exciting to watch. It may be hard to just sit on the sidelines and watch the fun-dolphin interactive programs are educational and exciting!

Do your research and choose a dolphin interactive program that is best suited for your family. Websites such as www.ammpa.org which provides listings of the top marine mammal facilities in the world is a good place to start. Remember, all interactive dolphin programs are possible because of the extraordinary training the dolphins receive.
