Bahamas Water Temperatures at the Beach – Dolphin Encounters
Articles and Tips

Bahamas Water Temperatures

The Bahamas beach with its crystal-clear waters and sub-tropical climate attract tourists from around the world. What keeps them coming all-year round is the near constant water temperature you find when taking a swim on the beach, or participating in another water activity. In fact, water temperatures in Nassau, Bahamas, rarely ever fall below 72 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s why guests from around the world spend the coldest months of year on a private Bahamas island, basking in sunlight and swimming in the warm Bahamian beach waters.

Ocean Water Temperature Changes in the Bahamas

Ocean water temperatures can change quickly because of shallow water on the banks. Depending on the air temperature trends, the water will cool down or warm up in a matter of days. Of course, the water temperatures on the offshore reefs are not as drastic. If you are traveling to the Bahamas during the winter months, you can expect the water temperatures to be around 74 degrees Fahrenheit.

Seasonal Ocean Temperatures in Nassau, Bahamas

If you plan a summer vacation in the Bahamas, the water temperature will be around 82 degree Fahrenheit on average. Although there is only a slight variation in ocean water temperatures, it is advisable to wear a wet suit in the winter months when participating in underwater recreation or activities that may require you to be in the water for a considerable amount of time.
