Make Your Next Beach Trip & Party More Green!
BLUE LAGOON ISLAND, BAHAMAS Everyone loves a party at a beautiful beach! By choosing what you bring to the beach carefully, you can help reduce marine debris and make your guests part of the solution.
- Use a set of lightweight, reusable dinnerware instead of disposable plates and cutlery. Last year alone, volunteers throughout The Bahamas collected over 2,000 disposable cups, plates, forks, knives, & spoons! After you finish your meal, place your cutlery in a reusable bag or container until you get home and can wash everything and store until your next beach activity. You will end up saving money in the long run, too!
- Replace paper and plastic cups with reusable beverage cups. Each year, Americans throw away enough paper and plastic cups, forks and spoons to circle the equator 300 times. You’ll never mistake someone else’s cup for yours again!
Replace a polystyrene cooler with a sturdy reusable cooler. Being difficult to recycle, that polystyrene cooler will probably end up in a landfill or worse, in the ocean. However, your reusable cooler will not leak or break. With just a couple of changes to your usual beach trip & party routine, you can make a big splash for a cleaner and greener beach.
